The 1200x1800mm tile format is the statement choice for grand architectural spaces — hotel lobbies, luxury villa living rooms, corporate headquarters, and premium retail environments where the flooring itself is a design feature. At Livenza Granito, our 1200x1800mm porcelain tiles cover 2.16 square metres per tile, creating a near-seamless surface that rivals natural stone slabs in visual impact. With just 0.46 tiles per square metre, the grout lines virtually disappear, allowing the tile design — whether marble-look, concrete, or abstract — to be appreciated as a continuous, uninterrupted surface.

Key Advantages

Grand Scale Impact

At 1200×1800mm, each tile covers 2.16 sq.m — a single tile spans the width of a standard doorway, creating a truly monumental floor.

Near-Seamless Surface

With rectified edges and 1.5mm grout joints, a 1200×1800mm floor is virtually indistinguishable from a continuous stone slab.

Countertop & Wall Cladding

Large format slabs are increasingly used for kitchen countertops, bathroom vanity tops, and full-height wall cladding in luxury projects.

Book-Match Vein Designs

Our 1200×1800mm marble-look designs feature book-matched veining — adjacent tiles mirror each other for a continuous, natural stone appearance.

Zero Maintenance

Unlike natural stone slabs, porcelain requires no sealing, no special cleaners, and no annual maintenance — just regular mopping.

Heat Resistant

Suitable for kitchen countertops — porcelain withstands temperatures up to 300°C without cracking, staining, or discolouring.

The Architecture of Ultra Large Format Tiles

The 1200x1800mm tile format represents the convergence of tile and slab — a format so large that it begins to function architecturally rather than just as a floor covering. In a grand hotel lobby, 1200x1800mm Calacatta polished tiles create a floor that is indistinguishable from natural marble slabs, with the continuous veining pattern flowing across the entire space with minimal grout interruption. The psychological effect of this near-seamless surface is significant: it creates a sense of grandeur, quality, and spatial generosity that smaller tiles cannot replicate.

Livenza Granito's 1200x1800mm tiles are produced using our most advanced large-format pressing technology, with strict flatness and calibration controls to ensure the tiles can be installed with the minimal grout joints that make this format so visually powerful.

Buying & Installation Tips

Substrate preparation is critical — maximum 2mm deviation over 2m. Any unevenness will be visible with this tile size.
Always use suction cup lifters and at least 2 people for handling — 1200×1800mm tiles are very heavy.
Double-butter the adhesive (apply to both substrate and tile back) for full-bed coverage — no spot bonding.
Plan the layout with book-matched vein designs before fixing — lay all tiles out first to check vein continuity.
For countertop use, ensure adequate support — no more than 1/3 of the slab length should overhang without support.
Use a specialist large-format tile saw with water cooling for cutting — standard tile cutters cannot handle this size.

Frequently Asked Questions

Installing 1200x1800mm tiles requires: mechanical suction lifters (tiles weigh 45–55kg each), a large-format tile saw for cuts, a laser level for substrate flatness checking, and a large-format notched trowel for adhesive application. Professional installation by experienced large-format tile installers is strongly recommended.

Yes. While primarily specified for commercial and luxury hospitality projects, 1200x1800mm tiles are increasingly used in premium residential projects — luxury villas, penthouse apartments, and high-end residential developments.
