Key Advantages

Ultra-Large Format

Slabs up to 1200×2400mm create a truly seamless, slab-like appearance with minimal grout lines across vast floor areas.

Countertop Ready

Heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, and non-porous — porcelain slabs are an excellent alternative to natural stone for kitchen countertops.

Feature Wall Cladding

Large format slabs create dramatic feature walls in living rooms, hotel lobbies, and commercial receptions with a single continuous surface.

Zero Maintenance

Unlike natural stone, porcelain slabs require no sealing, no special cleaners, and no annual maintenance — just regular mopping.

Matched Vein Designs

Our slab collections feature book-matched vein designs — adjacent slabs mirror each other for a continuous, natural stone appearance.

Consistent Quality

Every slab is calibrated to ±0.3mm and checked for flatness — essential for large-format installations where any variation is visible.

Why Large Format Slab Tiles Are Transforming Modern Interiors

The shift towards large format slab tiles is one of the most significant trends in contemporary architecture and interior design. By dramatically reducing the number of grout lines on a floor or wall, slab tiles create a visual continuity that makes spaces appear larger, cleaner, and more sophisticated. A 1200x2400mm slab, for example, covers nearly 3 square metres with a single tile — meaning a 30 square metre room requires only 10 tiles, with minimal grout interrupting the design.

Livenza Granito slab tiles are produced using advanced large-format pressing technology that ensures consistent flatness and calibration across the entire tile surface — critical for large formats where even minor warping becomes visible. Our slabs are available in polished, matt, and lappato (semi-polished) finishes, with designs ranging from classic marble-look to contemporary concrete and abstract patterns.

Applications: Beyond the Floor

Unlike standard tiles, porcelain slabs from Livenza Granito are versatile enough for multiple applications in a single project. The same slab design can be used for: floors (creating a seamless, continuous surface), walls (feature walls, bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes), countertops (heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, non-porous — ideal for kitchens and bathrooms), exterior cladding (UV-stable, frost-resistant, low maintenance), and furniture surfaces (table tops, cabinet fronts, shelving).

This multi-application versatility allows architects and designers to create a unified material language throughout a space, using the same slab design from floor to ceiling to countertop — a design approach that is increasingly popular in luxury residential and hospitality projects.

Installation Considerations for Large Format Slabs

Large format slab tiles require careful installation by experienced tilers. Key considerations include: a perfectly flat, rigid substrate (self-levelling compound recommended), large-format tile adhesive with full-bed coverage (no spot bonding), appropriate expansion joints at perimeter and field, and mechanical lifting equipment for tiles above 800x1600mm. Livenza Granito provides detailed installation guidelines with every slab order, and our technical team is available to advise on substrate preparation and adhesive selection.

Buying & Installation Tips

Slab tiles require a perfectly flat substrate — maximum 2mm deviation over 2m. Use self-levelling compound.
Use large-format tile adhesive (C2TE or C2S2) applied with a large notched trowel for full-bed coverage.
For countertop applications, ensure the slab overhangs no more than 1/3 of its length without support.
Book-matched vein designs require careful planning — lay out all slabs before fixing to check the vein continuity.
Always use a suction cup lifter for slabs — they are heavy and fragile at the edges without proper handling.
For feature walls, use a lightweight tile adhesive to reduce the load on the wall structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our largest standard slab size is 1200x2400mm. We also produce 800x1600mm and 1200x1800mm formats. For special projects, please contact our sales team to discuss custom size availability.

Yes. Porcelain slabs are an excellent countertop material. They are heat-resistant (up to 300°C), scratch-resistant (Mohs 6–7), non-porous (no staining from liquids), and require no sealing. Our 800x1600mm and larger slabs can be cut to countertop dimensions with minimal joins.

Large format slabs are packaged in reinforced wooden crates with foam padding between each tile. For export, we use seaworthy crating with moisture-resistant wrapping. Each crate is clearly labelled with tile specifications, quantity, and handling instructions. We recommend using mechanical handling equipment for unloading.

Our standard slab tiles are available in 9mm and 12mm thickness. The 12mm thickness is recommended for floor applications and countertops, while 9mm is suitable for wall cladding and lighter applications. We also produce 20mm thick outdoor pavers in selected designs.

Yes. Large format slab tiles require a high-performance, large-format tile adhesive (C2 or C2S1/S2 classification per EN 12004) with full-bed coverage. Standard spot-bonding is not suitable for slabs above 600x600mm. We recommend consulting our technical guidelines or a qualified tile installer for substrate preparation and adhesive selection.

Yes. Selected marble-look slab designs from Livenza Granito are available in book-match format, where adjacent tiles are mirror images of each other, creating a symmetrical veining pattern that closely replicates the appearance of natural stone book-matched slabs. Please enquire with our sales team for book-match availability.
